ABOUT

Who I am:

My name is Tyler Hoog! On 08/28/2011 I was paralyzed in a jeeping accident, leaving me without movement from the neck down. I'm originally from Longmont Colorado but after my injury I moved to Mead Colorado in order to move into a handicap accessible home.

While I'm currently writting this I'm a Junior at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. I'm studying Communications with a focus in media and I'm pursuing a double minor in Screenwritting and History. After i finish up with my undergrad at UNC I'd like to attend USC in order to pursue my Masters in Screenwritting. (Honestly I'd rather someone pickup my TV show so I don't have to get a Masters but I promised my momma I'd get a Masters so I can teach at the college level. Because afterall, those who can't do, teach ;-D)

Why I do this:

Well to be completly transparent, it's to be completly transparent. I've never been the most emotionally healthy individual and things didn't get better after the accident. Since I've always bottled up my emotions it eventually just kept building up. So now I'm creating a blog in order to help myself vent and get my crap out into the world. Also to show people that I can be hilarious and they should pay ridiculous sums of money to be.

My Story:

Long story short, I'm crippled and more days than less. Weird, I know. At the beginning of my Junior year of high school I was in a four-wheeling accident. It was my birthday weekend and we (myself, mom, dad, and four friends) decided to go up to meet some friends for a four-wheelng adventure. Now I could go into the details and my speculations as to what happened but I won't. Partially because I'm lazy and partially because that's not the point of this blog (and I'm running out of room on this page).

All that's important to my story is that I'm an individual chasing their dreams. The fact that I'm in a wheelchair is just a that, a fact. I don't want to be a hero, a revolutionary, or an example. I want to be Tyler. I want people to says, "holy shit, look at what Tyler has accomplished!" Not "holy shit, look at what he's accomplished despite all the adversity he's faced." Adversity is apart of my life, therefore I don't see it as a challenge. I just see it as life.
